The Name of Allah and the Number 66
Fredy Bollag
The present study contains the fruits of decades of research by a private scholar from Basel. In an analysis of the numerical and letter-mystical dimensions of the Arabic wording of Koranic text passages, which is as meticulous as it is imaginative, he succeeds in presenting an impressive depiction of the unique position of the name Allah and the deeper meaning of sacred formulas and mystical practices. As an initiate of the African Tidjaniyya order, famous for its numerological knowledge, he can draw on previously untapped sources and, in comparison with Jewish, Christian, and ancient Indian sources, arrives at astonishing insights into the universal meaning of letters and numbers.
